AT SEMPER PORRO OUR PHILOSOPHY IS OUR NAME: ALWAYS FORWARD

THE AIM IS SIMPLE

Our guiding principle is our name – Semper Porro, which is Latin for Always Forward.  Every day, we aim to be better than the day before. When there are setbacks, we look at them as opportunities to learn about what we did wrong and how we can be better.  When we succeed, we celebrate knowing the work we’ve put in to achieve that success.

Anyone can benefit from the philosophy of Always Forward.  Whether you are a beginner or an elite athlete, when you focus on steady improvement it’s amazing how far you can go.

FOCUS ON THE PROCESS

At Semper Porro, the process is simple – improve every day, work on fundamentals, emphasize long-term progress.   There’s nothing revolutionary about the concept of moving forward, or being disciplined. But, knowing and doing are two different things. Because of that, we focus on explaining the ‘why’ behind things and work to instill good behaviors in our athletes.

A good process will carry you forward.

Joey POWER!

Get low

One of the amazing things to me is the reach of the digital age. I have athletes contact me from all around the world. What's amazing is having the skills and the tools to be able to help someone I've never even met in person. It sounds crazy to think of, but I log so many hours chatting, talking on the phone and via video call that when I finally meet long distance athletes for the first time, it feels like we've known each other for ages. The athlete pictured, Louis Van Gaelen, reached out to me from Belgium a year ago looking for help guiding him forward. I'll be honest, I was shocked at the time. Surely there were amazing coaches in Belgium who he could have turned to first, it's the heartland of cycling after all! But no, it's seems to be the same story everywhere. The talented riders get sucked up by the "good" coaches, and everyone else gets left behind. I've heard this story so many times now, that I really shouldn't be surprised. Hell, I lived it. I was good, not great. I had all the drive in the world, but no direction. So, I floundered for years, slowly trying to figure things out on my own. Eventually, age and life caught up with me and my window closed. So, now I do everything I can to help others avoid the pitfalls in cycling that I struggled through. When I'm evaluating new athletes who want to work with me, I could care less what their talent level is or even what continent they come from. The only thing I care about is desire. How bad do you want it? I'll coach anyone who wants to move forward. Why? Because I was that kid. Not terribly good, but full of desire. If you want help with your direction, my door is always open. Email me, direct message, comment on YouTube, whatever it takes. If you have the drive, but are struggling with direction, I can help with that. My job is to help people move forward. After all, that's what Semper Porro is all about. Always Forward.

Joey Bacala clocked another win today at the Double Eagle TT. In fact, he had so much fun that he turned around and did it again, placing 3rd. So, that's a 1st and a 3rd on two separate runs. All in all, not too shabby.

Oval chainring?

Closing out the race season at San Ardo. It's been a solid year for Rex Roberts. Most of the year was spent foundation building so results were thin. But, we are well positioned for next year.
