Joey Bacala here. I first found bike racing through the collegiate club at LSU. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Alaska and stopped riding. In the winter of 2015, I started commuting to work by fatbike. Later that spring I realized that commuting had cultivated a lot more fitness in me than I expected. I returned to racing, and have never looked back. Semper Porro’s process-based approach to bicycle racing immediately resonated with me. I was quickly able to leverage the skills I’d developed in my professional career as a mechanical engineer and project manager into my training, racing, and development. It’s been one of the most gratifying and challenging projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking on. And we’ve only just begun.
